2016: Obama’s America to Be Released on DVD: Licenses Available for Church, Grass Roots Screenings

LOS ANGELES , Oct. 13, 2012 2016: Obama’s America is coming to DVD, the producers of the hit movie have announced. The film which has grossed over $33 million at the U.S. box office will be available for online purchase on October 14 th and released on DVD on October 16 th. The producers have also announced a special license which will allow for screenings of the film to large groups such as churches or grass roots political organizations.   The film will be available On Demand and Pay-Per-View on October 12.  It will be available on DVD and digital download on October 16 .

“We’ve heard from many people who want to watch the film and don’t have a theater close by,” said the film’s writer/director Dinesh D’Souza. “Now all Americans can watch the movie and make their minds up for themselves.”

In order to publicly screen the film, organizations must obtain a public license, which will be available for pre-order on October 8th.  A license can be obtained by visiting the film’s website: www.2016themovie.com. Organizations can screen the film an unlimited number of times for one year. The license cost is determined by the number of attendees using the following scale:

"Your Beauty is Worth Nothing" and "Aglaya" Win Top Awards at Antalya Film Festival

Turkey , Oct. 13, 2012 – ”Your Beauty is Worth Nothing,” a film about an immigrant Turkish boy who struggles with his new life in Austria won the Best Film Award in the National Competition at the 49th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival. The winners were announced at a Closing Night Gala on October 12, 2012 .

This year’s festival sent out a strong message for peace and against a possible intervention in the conflict in Syria . Many participants also spoke out for peace and tolerance and their films focused on important social issues like recognition of ethnic identities, women’s rights, child abuse, gay rights and freedom of expression.

“This film is about a Turkish-Kurdish family and it’s a film that doesn’t take sides,” said the director Huseyin Tabak , the German-born director of “Your Beauty is Worth Nothing.” “It’s on the side of humanity.” The film also won the Best Screenplay, Best Supporting Actress, Best Editing awards and a Special Jury Prize.

“We don’t want to fight with anyone. We don’t want to fight with Syria ,” said Ali Adnan Ozgur , whose film “Children of the Land,” about two children who take refuge in a village school won a Special Jury Prize.

In the International Competition, “Aglaya” a film by Hungarian director Krisztina Deak about a Romanian circus family who escape persecution in the 80s, won The Best Film Award and a Special Jury Prize.

“This is my first premiere and international festival and I’m very, very happy,” said the director of “Aglaya” who applied to Antalya right after finishing her film. “This is a wonderful festival, and the organization and the events were very good.”

The ten films in the International Competition came from Europe , Central Asia and the Middle East .

“What is most impressive is that all the National Competition films deal with really important issues for the country and the artists,” said Barbara Boyle , Associate Dean at UCLA ‘s Film Department. Boyle was the only member of the National Jury from the U.S. “For me that is the role of the artist, particularly the film artist, and it is important for audiences to deal with these issues and not be afraid.”

The festival was not without controversy. There was a public dispute within the national jury about censorship and artistic merit, and statements were made to the Turkish media during the festival.

Mana Contemporary’s New Exhibit To Showcase Video Art From The Richard J. Massey Collection

JERSEY CITY, N.J. , Oct. 12, 2012 – Mana Contemporary presents The Imaginary, The Symbolic, and The Real, an exhibition of video works from the Richard J. Massey Collection, from November 4, 2012 January 4, 2013 .

Included in the exhibit is Sussman’s acclaimed work 89 Seconds at Alcazar, which premiered at the 2004 Whitney Biennial. The 12-minute loop is an exquisite re-creation of the moments leading up to and immediately following the scene portrayed in the renowned masterpiece Las Meninas (The Maids of Honor) painted by the Spanish artist Diego Velazquez in 1656. Gerrard’s Cuban School creates a virtual site visit of a derelict school on the outskirts of Havana that houses 75 children.

Nancy Collet , former Director of Programming at the American Film Institute, serves as Festival Senior Programmer. The Appalachian Trail Is Coming To Theaters In Florida

Hilton Adds SMART Services, Creative Channel Services Broaden Client Base and E2 Announces Keynote Line-up

The prestigious Hilton hotel chain has chosen to adopt new technology provided by Uptown Network, a leading provider of “SMART” services, in order to improve the customer experience and bring the chain firmly into the 21st century.

Social, mobile, aware and real-time services, otherwise known as SMART, are an increasingly popular innovation in the hospitality sector, and the Hilton group has chosen to utilise the technology to provide customers with a digital wine list as part of a $120million renovation of its Anatole hotel.

Potential customers can download a free application from Apple’s App Store with the hotel’s full wine list, and can even call over the sommelier from within the app, adding an interactive dimension to the establishment’s service. Hilton spokesman Ed Dorman enthused that the technology “aligns with our guests’ evolving lifestyle.”

Creative Channel Services, a leading provider of retail marketing technology, has announced that US retailing giant RadioShack has rolled out its “CyberScholar Retail Network” program across all 4,400 of its stores.

CyberScholar will provide RadioShack’s employees with a wealth of detailed information on all of the products they are selling, as well as continually updated databases of new merchandise to ensure they can provide an unrivalled knowledgeable experience to customers.

Employees will also have the opportunity to earn cash bonuses and prizes in return for completing several online product modules, designed to solidify their learning and increase their product awareness. According to CCS CEO Andy Restivo , the technology “can influence consumer purchasing decisions and product sales on a nationwide basis”.

The E2 technology conference has announced this year’s line-up of keynote speakers, with representatives from industry giants including Facebook, Netflix and Mozilla all due to speak to the legion of delegates.

The much awaited conference is due to last for three days, starting on the 12th of November, with guests treated to a number of keynote speeches and workshops from influential figures in the technology industry. The focus of this year’s event will be on the “influences of mobile, social and big data” tools, and how they can be used to give companies a competitive advantage in an increasingly difficult marketplace.

Screenvision Strengthens West Coast Footprint With Krikorian Premiere Theatres Agreement

FX’s "The Americans" to Premiere at MIPCOM

Golden Globe® Award-winning actress Keri Russell (Felicity, Waitress, Mission Impossible III) and Welsh actor Matthew Rhys (Brothers and Sisters, The Edge of Love) will fly to the French Riviera to attend the MIPCOM World Premiere TV Screening of The Americans, FX’s new series co-produced by Fox Television Studios and FX Productions, also starring Noah Emmerich (Miracle, Warrior). David Madden, President, Fox Television Studios, and Eric Schrier, Head of Series Development for FX and Executive Vice President, FX Productions, will be attending MIPCOM alongside the show’s leading actors.

From creator/executive producer Joe Weisberg (writer on TNT’s hit series Falling Skies), executive producer and legendary writer Graham Yost (Justified, Boomtown, Speed, Band of Brothers), and Dreamworks Television’s executive producers Justin Falvey (Into the West, United States of Tara) and Darryl Frank (The Borgias, Las Vegas), The Americans is a period drama about the complex marriage of two KGB spies posing as Americans in suburban Washington DC shortly after Ronald Reagan is elected President.

Jane Campion Gets Creative At MIPCOM 2012

PARIS, Sept. 11, 2012 — Legendary film director Jane Campion will take part in the MIPCOM 2012 Creative Talks series of presentations. Organised by Reed MIDEM, MIPCOM will take place in Cannes, 8-11 October 2012.
