Jesus Salas ejecutivo de SBS se une a la ceremonia conmemorativa en honor a los héroes del 11 de septiembre

MIAMI, Sept. 11, 2012 — The reputable radio industry executive, Jesus Salas, EVP of Programming for SBS, joined the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department, the Miami-Dade Police Department and the United States Southern Command in remembrance of the eleventh anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks during a ceremony held at Tropical Park.

South Floridians will join the rest of the country in remembering this tragic day throughout different events in Miami-Dade and Broward County. Salas joined his nephew and Iraq war veteran, Amaury Perez during this morning’s commemoration in honor of the fallen.

In 2004, he joined Univision Radio as a program director, and then two years later accepted a post as senior PD with XM Satellite Radio. Tenor Anthony Kearns to Perform at the Bell Cultural Events Center on Saturday, September 15, 2012

Kansas City for a live performance this Saturday night, September 15, 2012 at the Bell Cultural Events Center at the MidAmerica Nazarene University. The concert is from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm.  

Mr. Kearns, a founding member of The Irish Tenors, joins forces with Dale Morehouse, chair of the Vocal Studies Division and associate professor of voice (opera) at the University of Missouri-Kansas City‘s Conservatory of Music. 

“We are excited to showcase Mr. Kearns’ remarkable talent for what will be a sensational evening of music,” Karen Phillips of the Bell Cultural Events Center said. 

Phillips said Kearns’ powerful cameo appearance at Union Station Kansas City’s Grand Opening Gala for ”Titanic: The Artifacts Exhibit” last spring was a “sneak preview of what we can expect to experience on Saturday night.”

Kearns has been astounding audiences with his incredible vocal abilities, technique and range. In 2006, he was acknowledged as ”Ireland‘s Finest Tenor” at the Dublin National Concert Hall’s Silver Jubilee. He was named “Best Irish Tenor” in 2010 by the Irish Music Association based in Independence, Mo.

Atlanta West Pentecostal Church Choir Crowned Best Gospel Choir In The Atlanta Area At Verizon’s How Sweet The Sound Gospel Celebration

ATLANTA, Sept. 11, 2012 – Atlanta West Pentecostal Church Choir of Lithia Springs, Ga., was named regional winner of Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound competition and received $10,000 and other prizes.  The choir will go on to represent the Atlanta area at the grand finale in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Nov. 4.  The first runner up prize of $5,000 was awarded to Out For Souls, led by Cedric Sesley.  Atlanta West Pentecostal Church Choir also won Verizon’s People’s Choice Award and $5,000.

In the Aftermath of Hurricane, Houston Artist Creates Massive Installation

HOUSTON, July 25, 2012 — What came as a disappointment to Houston artist Orna Feinstein when Hurricane Ike hit the coast of Texas in September 2008 turned into an idea that grew much larger over time. Feinstein, a mixed media artist specializing in printmaking and sculpture, was scheduled to have a solo exhibition at the Museum of Printing History in Houston when Ike arrived. The museum suffered some damage in the gallery and the exhibition was postponed.

“The curator had 2,000 invitation cards that became useless overnight and were on their way to the dumpster”, said Feinstein. “I told her to give them to me, and I’ll make an installation for the opening reception.” That small installation at the museum was the beginning of something bigger today at Box13 ArtSpace.

After four years of collecting and stitching together art invitations, Feinstein completed Multi-Librium. It is an installation made of more than 10,000 recycled art invitations, and measures 606″x 278″ (50 feet x 23 feet). It seeks to challenge preconceived notions of the traditional gallery space, delivering an engaging contemporary installation, where the use of space is limited only to the floor. The installation examines and illustrates the concept of equilibrium in which all biological systems co-exist, survive and function, a concept that operates both on a cellular and exterior level. The installation compares, contrasts, and balances art and science, and creates soft tension between the organic and geometric.

The exhibition at Box13 ArtSpace, 6702 Harrisburg, Houston, Texas 77011, is courtesy of Anya Tish Gallery, and will run until August 18th, 2012. An artist talk is scheduled for Saturday, August 11th at 2:00 PM.
